Ceramic tiling over bathroom pipes

I've been told that it is not a good idea to put ceramic tiles down on our bathroom floor because of the piping that runs underneath the floor boards. I think it was because you might need access to the pipes or there could be a leak (at a pipe join etc) and it would cause problems trying to access it. The bathroom has just been recently installed (somewhat badly - toilet not bolted down etc) but the wall tiling is magic and I wanted to finish it off with a tile bath panel and matching floor tiles. I've checked out what other houses in the area have done (from estate agent notices on the web!) and loads of other homes have had this done. I don't think our house has been plumbed any different than theirs.

What would you advise?

If your pipework are sounds then it shouldn't be a problem. The only things is to make sure the flooring is exterior plywood (WPB) & screws down for the ceramic tiles.
