Change old bell box

I need to change an old faulty strobe Texecom Odyssey 1E bell box to a new Odyssey X-B Grade 3 sounder on a Premier Elite 24 panel.

Would the best way to remove the bell be to enable Hold Off Mode on the panel and start work removing and replacing? Or should I remove the power to the bell from the panel.

My only concern is as soon as I connect the new battery and power it might go off.
