I read a few comments (including http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=271949&start=15) about the Chubb/Union 4L67E latch and it sounded good so I installed it today.
Even though the lock needs to be turned when closing the door - it can't be slammed - I thought that when I left the house I could turn the knob and have the bolt stay back until the door was closed.
This doesn't happen though, so I need to turn the lock using the key from outside when closing the door - is that right?

Thanks!!
Ben

No take it off the latch, all there in the book it came with.
Or you fitted the spindle in the wrong position.
Did you line you the arrows?

Thanks! Knowing that it was supposed to work did help.
Unfortunately there were no instructions (Union-branded blister pack) and no sign of arrow markings.
It turned out that the smaller coil spring was dislodged and not pushing the little close feeler latch out, so the main bolt wasn't staying open. Seems OK now, but it's surprising that none of the listings mention how it's actually supposed to work!

ta again
