Cleaning up the uPVC frames

Hey, I have several window frames to retrim on the inside, before I do so I don't damage anything what's the best way to get the old hard gunk off? Doesn't really need a photo but I thought I'd show what I meant. Chemical or a scraper? Cheers

If you mean the white mastic residue I always find petrol as good as anything.
