clicking noise

We have a clicking noise coming from our c28 when the supply is isolated. It is quite loud and reminds me of a piece of pipe with a rod inside moving up and down and hitting each end. This clicks about 6 times, stops makes a noise like someone burping and then starts again. It disappears when you open the taps hot or cold.put the supply back on and the boiler fires up ok but to get the heating on you need to have the hot on first.Could it be something to do with the flow switch/valve?
