I have an issue with pressure drop and am asking if this forum can shed any light. I have lived in this house since it was built in 1997. On the ground floor, I have kitchen, utility room and cloakroom (with toilet and wash basin). The utility room with sink and washing machine was professionally added in 2009. Flushing the toilet sometimes, but not always, reduces flow in the wash basin tap to a trickle (or nothing) - probably not unusual. But it has now started to reduce the flow in the kitchen and utility taps as well, and often lasting well beyond the toilet tank re-filling. The washing machine has also started flashing 'H20' indicating that it has low water pressure. When flow in the kitchen or utility room tap recovers, it 'spits', indicating to me that air has got into the system. Once recovered, flow in the taps is strong.
I always thought that kitchen taps were connected directly to the main supply, but in this case, all the pipework is concealed behind kitchen cupboard backs. From the behaviour it seems like they are all connected together. Am I getting some sort of airlock in the plumbing? Grateful for any advice that might point a plumber in the right direction.
