I am currently in the process of building a large domestic garage / workshop. I was going to have the floor powerfloated, but I have since heard that if I have this done, I will have problems painting the floor.

With this in mind, what is the best way of finishing the floor surface.

Cheers

Jim

you could smooth floor over over with f- ball wearcoat or acrylic levelling compound to give hard surface and paint this. Or you could epoxy the floor what colour you like.

If I went for self leveling concrete, would I need to float the floor at all, or is it a case of pooring in the concrete and then leave it? (ie no floating at all??)

you need to pour on and push compound with trowel where you want it and then smooth the best you can. The compound will flow out your trowel marks but only if you get half smooth.
