I was putting some extra sockets in a kitchen extension the other day (radial circuit). With all new sockets connected, I did a continuity check (power turned off) to all sockets. I was a bit confused when I found that there was continuity between live conductor and both the ground and neutral conductors.
Sanity checked all connections and all in order. Re-connected power and all sockets working okay. Does this sound right or could there be a problem with the wiring on the existing sockets in circuit ??

I expect you left something plugged into a socket, or a fused spur on.

Also, N and E are connected at some point on the electricity boards side depending on the earthing type.
