is there a cooker hood with a flue that goes directly out of the wall horizontally rather than needing a chmney? We have a problem that means the hood we bought wil be far too low if we follow the fixing instructions for the flue and chimney.
Anyone know of an alternative?

If the hood installation, means the hood will be below the the required/regulated distance from the hob and therefor making the existing hole not usable, you will need to brick the existing hole up and make another hole.
Not really another way around this, unless you can use carbon filters, which will mean no need for external extraction.

Thanks, all sorted, a new hole had to be made as you said
