Cost of Square Metre of Renovation?

A friend has just told me that it will cost £1500 for a square metre of new build (adding a new extension to his house)

I would like to renovate an old building - could you tell me i could roughly price it by square metre - and if renovation building would be about the same cost at £1500 per square metre or would it be more?

All depends on the finish you require, generally a refurb is cheaper as you are not getting into groundworks and major structural work which eat up cash.
Best get the job quoted at least 3 times.
