Hello

I’ve owned my flat for 11 years. It’s a Victorian ground floor conversion.

My wallpaper is rippled in a couple corners of the front room so I pulled it back in both places to check. I’m planning on getting the whole room re wallpapered and plastered so pulled it back to check. One side is fine.
In this corner, there’s a crack going up the wall and then along the coving.

It starts off as a hairline one and then gets a bit wider and then slimmer again going up.

This left side of the wall leads out externally and the right side where the crack is, is an internal wall.

I’ve had a look in my bedroom which it leads onto and there is no crack on that side.

Should I be worried? What work would you suggest?

Photo is in the reply below

Thanks

flatown. good evening.

Given this plaster issue is in one room, but the immediately adjacent room, on the other side of the damaged area is indicative that this plaster damage is [concentrated] to one smallish area only, it is not pointing to and serious or major issues occurring or having occurred.

Wrinkled paper in older properties corners, is a very common issue, and tends not to indicate anything in any way serious.

To be sure, are there any cracks or bulges externally within [say] 2.m of this plaster issue on the external wall?

As for a "fix" use a flexible filler, sand and re-fill then re-decorate or fill and skim the walls.

Ken.

Thank you for replying.

It’s hard to tell because the side of the house where the external wall is, has pebbledash. But there are no obvious cracks or bulges in that. The cracks internally are also on the internal wall side and not on the external wall.

I will get someone to do as you say thank you.
