Hi,

Not sure if this belongs in this forum or general building - let me know if it is wrong and I will repost.

We have a downstairs toilet where the soil outlet goes straight through the outside wall and connects to the stack immediately outside. On the internal wall of the toilet (the wall at right angles to the outside wall) there have appeared a few patches of damp just above the skirting board.

These damp patches stretch along the wall starting near the corner of the room where the soil pipe exits and appear along the wall to a distance of about four feet into the room.

Is it possibly a problem with a leaking drain? the toilet was installed about 8 years ago and the damp has only just appeared. There is no smell, and there is no apparent effect on the operation of the toilet.

Could it be this or is it more likely to be just some form of rising damp?

Would it justify a cctv inspection to check for underground leaks?

Any assistance greatly appreciated

Possibly.. any other pipes in wall, hot, cold, central heating?

Can you not from the outside, pull the soil pipe out of the wall and check it, cameras seem a bit OTT for a small job and would cost you alot more than a few materials for patching up a wall.
