My 20 ft square double garage has the back wall completely below ground level but the two sides have steps or stairs sloping going down to the level of the road. The back wall is mostly wetish and on some parts show whitish salt which is mainly dry. I was adviced to use bitumin like the roof tops. When I asked staff at B&Q I was told it would damage the concrete blocks after a while and that bitumin comes only in black which cannot be painted over. They gave me a whitish damp proofing paint by Polycell which is described as "One coat, damp seal - seals patches of damp and prevents them from reappearing" bar code 5010212505908.

Is there any expert advice available on this please? Will this Polycell one coat damp seal do the job of sealing the walls and keeping them dry before I put up some old Kitchen wall unuts for storing my DIY tools and items related to car care?
