Hello, :D
Our central heating timer/programmer, a DANFOSS TS15, recently stopped working after the little battery icon flashed for a while then it just went blank.
We thought that as the electricity was switched off at the main fuse box just before that, (for about 10 minutes), this might have drained what little energy there was left in the battery. The battery couldn't be removed without force, so we assume that it isn't meant to come out. BTW the warranty label inside the box says Dec 1997, so we think we should replace the whole thing.
My questions are, (sorry it's long winded)
1. Is it possible to replace the battery, (it's like a 10 pence coin)?
2. If the wiring is left in place in the wall do we need to get the exact same timer/programmer?
3. What other ones are compatible, can other models match up to the existing wiring?

Thanks for any help you can offer :-)

Never had to replace the battery on this timer before. It is fixed to the PCB and not meant to be removed by the enduser. Can be replaced but do not see the need for this.

Battery symbol indicates no mains power to timer and thus indicating battery within keeping things going until power restored. Ooce battery power used up, display goes blank.

When power restored, battery gets topped up.

Thanks for your response, DP.

That's weird because the power supply was ok and we couldn't get the heating back on after trying to set it again! It's been like that ever since.
Will get the other half to double check the wiring.
Thanks again.

A common problem is 13amp fuse fitted instead of 2 or 3amp. Result is a short circuit vapourises the copper track on the timer.
