Hi,

I did a nasty scape on my car roof whilst removing my windsurf kit from roof rack last month. The scape is a about a cm wide and not pretty  . Can anyone advise what the best course of action would be, the car is 3 years old & I am short of budget to have it professionally repaired. I looked in Halfords & they sell a hammerite soultion undercoat to stop rust - good idea? Also how would I go about finding exactly the right colour spray to subsequently touch it up?

thanks

adam

An amateur paint fix will stick out like a sore ****

Call "Chips Away" (on the web or in phone book) and get the local guy round. Wash it thoroughly first.

they are a franchise that specialises in chips and scratches - they paint inside the damage rather than over the panel, using a tiny tiny tiny spraygun, and polish off any overspray before it hardens.

Get your bonnet stonechips, and supermarket door dings done at the same time.

They visit you in a van with the equipment in it, and 50cc of matching paint.

I have mine done every couple of years.

Costs about £65 a visit down here

(i have no conection with the company, just a satisfied customer)

Thanks for the tip. I am only up the road in Berks so I will give them a call tomorrow
