Dishwasher draining problem

My hotpoint DF53 dishwasher won't drain at all. I've bench tested the drain pump and it spins ok but won't pump on the machine. Why not.
No kinked hoses or anything like that. I cleaned it all out.
Maybe I'm missing something simple, eg a solenoid perhaps, or pressure switch somewhere?.
Please HELP.
