Domestic Design Software

Hi all

Does anyone know some good to use Design software for things such as drawing layout diagrams and wiring diagrams for domestic installations?

Never needed anything more than a sheet of graph paper for domestic stuff but Microsoft Visio is a good drawing package IMHO

I've used Visio and find it a real pain.

I suppose if you use it all day every day you would get used to it after a few years. Fairly expensive, too, compared to a pencil.

Pro designers seem to use CAD packages.

I've found Smartdraw quite easy to use for the drawings I've had to do recently.

It has lots of electrical symbols, but none of the 'standard' BS ones that all the books use, so I just suitably labelled boxes and a key

cheers guys, i will look into those for the guy. Thought there might have been on that was designed for the job.
