I have loads of these and they are all getting on a bit (like me). Another one has just sheered off. I have sourced a replacement head without all those bits of pipework. Can I replace it by unscrewing it without water coming out. Please don't be rude to me. I am an ageing lady who is sick of paying an arm and a leg for simple property maintenance jobs which I can do myself with a bit of help with the know-how! Thank you, fellas!

You can unscrew the metal knurled ring at the base of the head.

Then screw on another.

But the early Drayton WITHOUT saying TRV4 were a different size and thread if I remember correctly.

Its usually cheaper to buy the whole valve than try to buy just the heads.

IIRC TRV 3 & TRV4 are compatible. As Tony says, just turn knurled nut anticlockwise to remove. You may have to dig out broken bits of old one.
When fitting new ones, you may find it easier to set the heads to maximum

Thank you, guys! Just wanted to make sure I did not end up with a flooded carpet! Appreciate your help.
