I have an electric shower (Triton T80Z 9.5kW) and a gravity fed system. I also have a pump in the airing cupboard which is being fed from the CWST to the shower. The mains water pressure is good. Why would this pump have been installed? Why wasn't the shower just fed via the incoming mains in the loft? TIA.

maybe the flow, or the pressure, from that incoming pipe was insufficient.

That's more likely than that somebody decided to go to extra trouble and expense for no reason.

Maybe when the shower was installed ,the mains wasn't as good ,and subsequently altered / new main ?
Or the person that installed was just clueless ,who knows.
