Hello chaps. Me again after a long silence due to heavy Christmas lunch.

The DIY boiler job is coming up for its anniversary and still going strong. I haven't had it commissioned yet (sorry, Oilman) and wondered if he finds any of the following significant:

1. Slight blackening of the flue mouth
2. Light film of oily residue on its inside
3. Quite loud a-whoompa when the boiler fires up, especially from cold (always did this). Boulter Camray.

Otherwise fine - house is hot and family still alive.

me thinks the boiler is due for a service also for the warranty it'll need commissioned.

You should have had it set up properly in the first place, but what's the point? nobody listens, they all know better.

Went to fix a boiler today, asked when it was last serviced........well, when I lifted the cover, I saw the return water pipe was routed over the access panel, with 1/8 inch spacing. It has never been serviced, can't be done without cutting the pipes, who cares..............?

But Oilman, I do listen. How do you think I got it working so well in the first place? Advice from you and Mr Prescott.

But you never mentioned that I should leave more than 1/16th inch clearance between the oil tank and the boiler's front panel, nor that they should both be sited above ground. Who will service it now?

All appliances installation instructions state minimum clearances, it's just that some people think they know better.
