Hi,

I am looking at fitting a roof window we have none at the moment, its a newish house built 2006 with red roof tiles not slate. My rafters are 55cm to 58cm wide so I have found a window in B&Q for £119 at 55cm x 98cm.

I assume I will not be able to cut the rafters for a bigger window but the 55cm wide one will be ok and I would rather not cut them. Any tips for good windows I know velux seem to be the best but expensive. I will need a flashing kit too I know.

Possible for a diyer? I did build a conservatory earlier this year with a friend so feel I can tackle this project.

Appreciate any advice.

You generally get what you pay for with respect to roof windows. You can DIY if your DIY skills are up to it. Better off asking in the Roofing Section tbh.
