Hi,
I'm replacing an existing window with French doors, to lead into a conservatory. The conservatory isn't subject to building regs or planning permission, although the eventual wiring will be.
Rather than paying a Fensa fitter for new windows, I'm considering buying one of the many second hand sets of doors on eBay and fitting it myself. What I don't understand is how I know whether they'll satisfy the building inspector. Am I right in thinking I need a U value of 1.2 or less? And does that tend to translate into a glass thickness such as 19 or 28mm?
Currently the rest of the house is single glazed, so anything I fit here will be far better standard than the existing glazing, but being a door rather than window, will be twice the area.
Thanks
Gary
