I have just bought a house that needs a new flat roof on the extension, what is the regulation standard size for roof joists and what sort of insulation should I be using?

Roof joists size depends on the span and the expected loading.

Is this to be a warm roof or a cold roof. Insulation and ventilation vary on the method used.
