My 1st post so please go easy 
I am proposing to do a loft conversion on a traditional build 1950's Bungalow, and would like to know guide figure for this:
Outer wall to load bearing internal wall (approx central) is a span of 3.70metres, roof pitch is 36degrees (concrete tiled), i would like to remove the large purlin and supports and replace with structural knee wall, which would support the roof loading off the new floor joists (rather than adding a steel under the knee wall if this is poss), knee wall will be 850mm from eaves.
Question is: what size/spacing of joists would be required for this span with the additional roof loading placed upon them??
I appreciate that ultimately a structural calc maybe req'd, but just considering different structural floor possibilities at this stage.
