GLOW WORM MICRON 70FF PROBLEMS

Hi there
I have a 8 year old system that was fine until the begining of 2010.
The radiators wouldnt come on although i had hot water at the tap etc.
I tracked down a Sunvic SD2701 controller in the airing cupboard which when i pulled the lever to flush position brought back the radiators.I left it like that!
Recently i have noticed a clicking sound from the boiler in the utility and can see the green leds flashing as well and the boiler starting,running a bit and stopping just to start over again.I still have enough hot water for baths,showers etc but dont understand what the fault is.This morning i went to the airing cupboard and could hear clicking from the microswitches of the Sunvic unit.The wall thermostat and the main timer controller were not active so im suprised it was active.Also the boiler fires up any time even when the contoller is off/thermostat is below ambient room temperature!
Has one damaged the other or is this two faulty items?
Any guesses at cost parts and labour if i get a local engineer out?
within £100 guess is fine

Change the actuator head on the three port valve, £50 and 1 hour of your time.

so is this causing all the problems?
like the boiler part as well?

Ah yea, but if the valve is seized through lack of use it will naff the new head, if you turn the spindle with pliers to make sure it is free, it sometimes makes them leak, so be careful you dont set yourself up for other problems.

So is the actuator head seperate to the sunvic assembly which i can buy?

The valve body and head are separate, and "normally" sold separate, if old I usually change both at the same time avoid problems.

what would both 'roughly cost' inc labour fitted as i better sort it before the winter kicks in?
