Miss Mottie has been diagnosed with coeliac disease and she suffers quite a bit with it. Because of that, we had to be tested and it was found that Mrs Mottie has it too although hers is called 'silent coeliac' which, if undiagnosed, could be worse as whilst damage is being done to the stomach, the carrier is not aware of it. Anyway, because of that, they are both on a gluten free diet. It’s expensive and can be quite tasteless, especially the bread so I’ve just started making my own gluten free breads.

Had a bit of a false start by not following the recipe correctly and the second attempt came out well. All except it contained gluten! Yep, gluten in the yeast. This was my soft bread tear 'n' share rolls.

Anyway, with the correct gluten free yeast, I’m currently proving some focaccia bread for lunch. Fingers crossed this time!

Gluten is what makes bread, bread. So it’s never great, the ready made stuff is like cardboard.

Glutafin flour is available on prescription if you have been diagnosed as caeliac

Tescos has one of the widest ranges of gluten free products.

Galettes are lovely and made from Ble Noir (buckwheat flour) and gluten free.

It’s flipping expensive being gluten free and a right pain when going out for a meal.

Tada! Rosemary and Olive focaccia. Bloody lovely. (y)

Looks fantastic. Mrs Mottie is very lucky to have you! Especially to be slaving over a hot stove on a day like this.

Balsamic vinegar is a must! (I'm surprised I've never thought of that joke before :LOL:)
