Hi - would be great to get some advice on this -
A couple of weeks ago we had a wall hung gas-fired condensing boiler fitted for central heating and hot water.
We are having two problems - one is a persistant knocking - I have tried bleeding the radiators but it does not seem to have helped. The knocking moves to the next radiator whenever we turn the control either up or down.
The radiators and pipework are all quite old, I've tried turning the pressure down slightly from just over 2 bar to 1.75 bar but it does not seem to have made any difference.
the main problem we are having is that the boiler keeps going dead every 3 or 4 days - the blue light goes out on the front and it is a nightmare to get relit. The last time it happened it took 3 days. the trouble shooter in the guide says turn it off and on again - sometimes when we turn it on again all the lights on the front flash briefly before it goes dead - sometimes it just stays dead. The first time it happened we got it restarted by pressing the button with a spanner on it (the reset button was not having any effect)
When we do get it relit it seems to be OK (except for the knocking) for a few days working normally - then it goes dead again.
The power going into the boiler is the same switch that powered the old boiler and we never had power problems with it.
We thought that it could be an air bubble working its way around the system then knocking out the boiler whenever it gets to it - but we have been told that this should not result in loss of electrical power. Also bleeding does not seem to have any effect on the knocking. Any advice? thanks.
