Hi,

I'm in the process of buying a flat.

It has been vacant for the last year and the combi-boiler heating system has not been used for a long time.

The radiators are fairly new and i assume the pipes should be in a reasonable state, having previously been working.

Is it worth having a heating engineer look at the system before i exchange ? I am of the opinion that without the gas or electric being connected, an engineer really wont be able to tell me much ?

Is this the case ? or can you look at a disconnected system and tell if its good or not ?

Little can be done with no services connected. A visual inspection and a water quality test is about all that can be done. Ask to see any service records. Beware of buying without a proper test. Might cost £75-100, but worth every penny.
