Thanks to this group my husband successfully managed to change the carbon brushes at the weekend which solved the 'drum not turning' problem.

But since then, when doing a wash there is a strong burning plastic smell.

Hubbie is pretty sure its coming from the metal/ plastic 'struts/ shaft' which hold the drum in place as there is black gooey stuff on the bottom of the metal part so its as if the metal bit is getting hot and melts the plastic inner part of the rod when it goes up and down.

Does that make sense?
Any clues as to how to solve would be much appreciated!

Thanks
Rebecca
