Can anyone help please with the wiring of the Hive Receiver. Presumably this replaces the clock, which has normal Live and Neutral plus two other wires, white and brown, which I presume are Heating off and Heating on, but which is which? Do I have to join a cable to the "common" in the Hive Receiver ? I realise that I will have to replace the "link" in the boiler wiring, which I removed when fitting the room thermostat 6 year ago. The boiler is Heating and direct hot water i.e. no hot water tank. Thanks Peter

As you have a combi boiler you require the Single Channel Version of the Hive.

(N) and (L) are self explanatory.

(1) 'Common' and (3) 'Heating on' are the on/off switching terminals. When the heating is 'on' they are connected together inside the receiver, and when the heating is 'off' they aren't. Therefore, it doesn't matter which way around they are connected.

Terminals 2 and 4 aren't required.

You just need to ascertain for certain that the "brown and white" wires are what you think they are.

Alternatively if your existing room stat has a live and neutral supply (not all do) it might be easier to leave the clock wiring as it is. Set it to be permanently 'on' and replace the room stat with the Hive.
