Hiya

I have a Potterton Lynx 2 Combi Boiler (12 years old)
I just had it fixed for leaks a few weeks ago (2nd time it's leaked)
The plumber said he 'repiared leaks to the heat exchanger, C.H. Thermistor using tape'?
Now I only get hot water when i put the central heating on
and the water from the bathtub is only lukewarm
(the CH and radiators work ok).
I wonder if the heating sensor or thermostat has been damaged
by the leaking water?

Many thanks for any help you can give me on this.

I am not a plumber or heating engineer, it does sound like the termistor is playing up.

That said i would suggest you get a second opinion from a heating engineer.

You may also want to read this

it does mention that although plumber "A" fits combis it doesnt mean to say he can fix them, and as for "fixing it with tape" as you said your man did, do you have a hitching post outside?

heh... yep taped his horse to it... good article btw
i'm thinking of gettting a new boiler possibly worcester.. fed with with jynx
broken down bout 8x since we've had it (sometimes right after we supposedly had it 'fixed')...
any recommendations for something solid and dare i say, 'workhorsey'
even if it requires more space? flat is only 3 rooms, 5 rads
Cheers!
