When refilling my CH system I managed to overpressurise the boiler by leaving the fresh water top up valve open too long while I was going round checking all the radiators for leaks etc; stupid, I know!
The CH pressure relief valve now simply discharges all water through the overflow pipe.
How do I reset the pressure relief valve, and would I need to replace any parts in doing so?
(The boiler is approx 15 years old, and works perfectly otherwise)

Unfortunately PRVs are notorious for leaking once they have done their job a couple of times. You may have to find a new one.

Many thanks Jackthom.

I'd like to reset the existing one first, though, before replacing it. Is this fairly straightforward?

Re-set???????????????????//

Maybe you have opened it slightly to drain the over-pressurization? in which case all you need to do is turn it a little more until you feel and hear it click.

But it will goosed for sure!!!!!! they are not meant to be manually opened unless you are about to replace them with a new one.

Cheers Mario.

From what you wrote, I take it that these things are not designed to be reset. All I know is that when I try to top up the CH system, the water simply goes straight through to the overflow; I haven't tried to remove the PRV from the boiler yet.

Just wanted to know what resetting/replacement involved.

if you have tried turning it (usually a quarter of a turn at a time and it is not seating to the closed position, then it must be kaput.
They are not normally very expensive - maybe 13 quid or so for a Ferroli
