Hello. I’m replacing the light in my kids bedroom, and putting in a ceiling rose. I have a multimeter, but don’t know how to use it to identify the cable coming from the switch. Would anyone be able to offer any help or advice? It’s a Multimeter from B&Q if that helps.

Thanks.

We call it ringing out as many years ago we used a bell and batteries, main point is power switched off, and meter set to either ohms or diode test with buzzer is normally the best, select a cable connect meter to both wires and switch the light switch on/off, when you have selected correct cable buzzer will switch on/off with light switch.
