I move my plants when I want to.
I take as big a root ball as I can manage, dig a big hole, back fill & water well, then water for the next few days.
I have not lost a plant this year, I have even put a spade through & divided.

If its more than 2ft then its a risk. Not a massive risk and like diyisfun i move plants often at poor times and they are fine.
If it must be moved now then prune off most of the leaves before doing so and as said take as much root ball as possible. This will affect the flowering for next year though.
If you can wait for another while, october is a much better time.
