We had the pump replaced on our Ideal Response 100 combi about ten months ago. During the last week, various noises have been heard in the area of the pump, either a weak fan noise or a rattling one, sometimes none at all. It can also be heard in the fan area, but is much stronger in the pump/bottom area. Over the weekend the pipes were making knocking noises which stopped after heating was switched off (we haven't them yet ourselves as we were away). Could the pump have gone so soon, could the system be blocked, or something else?

Most pumps fail because of dirt in the system.

Most repairers just replace the pump because the customer does not want to pay any more than theminimum needed to get it working.

I always explain the need to get the system cleaned but of course almost all owners dont bother ( until the pump fails the next time! )

Of course your boiler problem may not be the pump!
