Hi guys.

I hope that you can help me with a large problem with my dishwasher.

Opened the door today and no power light. Checked fuse etc and all is OK as far as 230V going into the machine. I am an electrician so I am OK with that bit!

I then noticed that the power light does come on but only when the door is about half open. Move the door either side of that point and the light goes off.
My guess is that there is a connector come loose, or a cable is worn, probably the cable that carries power etc from the main assembly to the door.

Does anybody know if this is a common problem and how do i access the inside of the door etc to try to determine what is going on.?

Thank you for your help, I don't think I can stand doing the washing up by hand all over Christmas.

OK,
I have taken the front off, there is power going to and from the control panel at the top. All connectors seems firmly in place and I cannot see any worn/trapped wires.

The light no longer goes on and off when I move the door. It is definately off :(

Any hints from you appliance experts please?

Check the wiring loom at the bottom of the door because as the door is opened and closed the wiring loom flexes at this point and its not uncommon for a break in the wiring at that point

Hi folks.

It fixed. My experience my help others.

The cables are all bundled together and come from the base of the unit and curve round and up the front of the machine (inside the front panel - this is an integrated model) so the cables are sandwiched between the machines front panel and the decor panel.

There is a plastic cover that protects the cables from harm.

I eventually found a broken wire tucked right at the bottom of the machine where the cables enter the shroud. I'm guessing that the cables arent really up to hundreds of door opening and closing as the cable is expected to flex at this point.

Anyways, a quick crimp job with the cables and its up and running again.

Phew, I was dreading
1. trying to find a repair guy this close to Xmas
or (even worse)
2. having to do all the washing up by hand.

Job's a goodun'

:D

EDIT: Speacial thanks to the capn! :)
