I had the same problem with my Indesit. The following solution was offered to me on a different site and seems to have sorted things out. Hope it helps you:
"many indesits have a memory on board, set the timer to off position, turn on the mains press start let the machine finish what it is doing, and it will reset normally, turn off at mains for a few minutes can also do the trick, it sounds like one of the option buttons was pressed and you didn't let the timer finish its course"[/i]
