Is HE meant to mean High efficiency cause mine isnt

Ok here we go again.

Let me clarify a few things.

The fire is a Plasma NOT GAS in fact the old pipe that used to supply the back boiler was totally removed along with all the old central heating pipes that used to run down the right hand side of the chimney breast in a boxed section. It runs off electricity although NOT the traditional method as in electric bars or fan heater. I think the apperance is meant to mimic a gas fire but itgives off heat with one of those nice imitation flame effects.

The heat is produced by a type of bulb or something like that.

Yes i did fit my own combi and remove the old gas fire and back boiler I got a corgi registered guy to de commission the old boiler and fire and then Re- commission the newcombi. I built an extension and have often done the plumbing when doing other peoples building work although i NEVER touch gas.

The new extension will consist of another 2 rads that although the pipework and rads are there, they haven't been connected to the feed and return as yet so that rules out additional heating.

I am hoping the fact that the boiler was set to pre-heat meant that every time the hot tap was turned , even for a second meant the boiler would fire and burn to ensure the water pre heat tank was full and at the pre set temp. i have now turned off that feature and have already noted that if the tap is turned on (hot) for a couple of secs, the boiler doesn't fire up.

I am now hoping this will cut down the gas usage..

I used to fire up the old back boiler for 45 mins in the morning and that was it until the following morning. There was enough hot water for normal all day use and a couple of showers in the evening. We had a tall tank installed (about 5 foot high)

anyway, i think i will google and see if i can find out how to install a hot water collection device :D :D :D thanks to the guys who have tried to explain.
