Hi,

Looking for some gardening advice. Is my fir tree dead? It has gone brown before each year at about this time but this year it's worse. I wonder if its the tree behind sucking the moisture out of the ground or is it natural for these trees to go brown in April?

Thanks in advance

Matt

The tree isn't dead, but the brown branches are.
The dead bits won't regenerate.
If I were you I'd get rid of it.

Hard to be sure from pictures but I would say it has either spider mites or conifer aphids. A dead brown such as that if you look inside the tree is different from that orange rust colour you have which usually indicates one of the above pests.

I have never seen a conifer recover from either, despite treatment with a specialised pesticide.
