Today I received my Vessel JIS screwdriver bits (purchased via Ali Express- the Chinese platform).

On site today, I had to remove some Phillips screws that were pretty tight. I noticed that my phillips bit was slipping slightly (unscrewing by hand). It was a 25mm Festool phillips bit, in good condition. Given that my JIS bit had just turned up, I decided to try them. I was surprised that they seemed to grip the screwhead better- no slipping. That said, the festool phillips bits (by design they have slightly rounded edges), perhaps a different phillips bit might have been better, but never the less impressed with the JIS bits.

As an aside, I only purchased the JIS bits because I frequently come across window furniture screws (presumably) from the east that are a PITA to remove (or screw in) with either pozidrive or phillips bits. After a quick internet search, Vessel seem to be a quality Japanese brand. Annoyingly, I had to pay about £18 for the bits even though I only wanted short 25mm hex bits... Hey ho.

Try pulling a Japanese power tool to pieces (e.g. Makita, especially Makita) and you'll find yourself needing a JIS #2 all the time, unless you want to burr-out your screw heads

I've battled with JIS screws for 25 years working on Japanese Motorcycles (they have a dot on the screw head).

Proper JIS screwdriver is the only way really, was mulling over buying some screwdriver bits recently, they look good value.

They really are nice bits. I particularly liked the fact that one of the JIS 2 bits has a slim shank. They seem to be proper Japanese quality (sold via a Chinese platform).
