In Italy they sell Joker Joints or COAX assembly system which is very handy for DIY applications.
It looks like this: www.soldati.it/en/complementi/coax.php

I combed the UK Internet and found no traces thereof.
Perhaps they are known under other name here? Can I get them locally?
If not where can I get 25 mm (external diameter) metal pipes preferrably chromium-plated ?

You could try mercers in blackburn, they do a similar product for sure but its not a highly polished finish, otherwise it looks to be the same or very similar.

Thanks. Do you mean Mercer & Sons Ltd, 21-27 Northgate?
I've just called them, they never heard of Joker Joints or COAX assembly system, but indeed sell what they call 25 mm steam pipes. They are not polished, which is not of primary importance. But they are 3mm thick, which makes them too heavy for my appllication. The Italian stuff is 1 mm thick and robust enough.

Here :?:

They are called Galvanised Steel Tube and Clamp Fittings, plenty in google now you know what to type in :D

What is it you wanted to do?

Thanks, masona, that's exactly what Doctor ordered.
As you rightly pointed out, Google can do everything provided one is able to communicate to him what is needed
