Laurel Hedge

Hi

I planted a laurel hedge last February 2 to 3ft high, the wind last night has broken one of the stems on one of the hedges can this be taped up and strenghtened so it can grow?

Just the height is now 4 ft approx and want to keep as best as possible.

Cut it off and it will grow a new one.

You’ve got nothing to lose by trying. Local authority have just planted a hedge and erected a windbreak fence in front to give protection whilst it establishes. Just posts and very fine, strong netting.

Laurel is vigorous and quickly grows back after cutting.

If it's not completely snapped off then it's worth a go. As others have said the plant will regrow quickly otherwise. I've done this once or twice and had ok results.
