Hi
i am looking to see if there was any advice on not using LDF on a restrictor elbow due to the fact that making the fibre washer wet with LDF can swell the washer and seal the leak ,antill the ldf drys out and the washer shrinks back and you have your gas leak back, thanks for any info on this, or past cases where this has caused a problem

Gas questions should be asked in the CC part of the forum!

Interestingly i've wondered if you use Ldf does could it be the case that capillary action is more powerful than the leak the ldf gets pulled in to a joint them evaporate and eventually leave a leak ???

Washers drying out is reason the restrictor elbow washer was changed to rubber and metal.
But if you tighten it and leave it sound then you are fullfulling your duty of care . No rule to change them
i Always stick washer under my tongue for a bit as service the fire before replacing it.

You are never going to get a leak from a restrictor washer that would end up dangerous
