Just been up my loft and noticed a water like fluid on loft boards directly below my flue. The flue has an elbow and the fluid seems to be coming from were the elbow fits over the main pipe. Should i be concerned ?? my boiler is a combi and the the flue goes up into loft and out of roof..

Well its a concern to have water coming from a flue joint, try to see if its running down flue and just dropping at bend, ie getting in from roof/weatherseal junction, or it might be condensation ,warm gasses going out and colder air coming in and manifesting at the flue bend

It's an Alpha CB24. I had plumber out recently as it doesn't always fire up first time, heating works but sometimes takes 2 or 3 attempts to fire up. He suggested that the seal may have gone on the inner pipe on flue but that means nothing to me and he didn't seem to concerned..

Well he should have been concerned if he suspected a flue seal had failed.

The erratic hw firing will most likely be the horseshoe shaped flow switch. These are prone to sticking.
