Hi,

Been having some work done and the boiler has been off for several months and moved, when it was first connected back up it developed a small leak. When I take the front cover off I see a big cast iron block with a rubber gasket on each side the leak appears to be coming from the right hand one as you look at it. The funny thing is when the boiler is running there's no leak.

Could this be a major problem? Or is it ok to leave as it's fine when the boiler is running?

Don't really want to replace the boiler as apart form this it runs fine.

Any help/guidance would be appreciated.

Hi

The heat exchanger side gasket is leaking and will need tightening or replacing. Now that the front cover as been removed a RGI should check it is sealed correctly on refitting.

Hi Tincup,

Thanks for the info, my heating guy is on site in a week, he's corgi/gas safe and a megaflow engineer so i'll get him to have a look at it but not sure if he does boiler maintenance. Is this quite a common problem and one that's simple to sort or is it terminal?

How much should I be looking to pay someone to fix this?

Would like to keep the boiler as it runs well and I can't really afford a new one.

Thanks again.
