I re-pointed and water sealed my chimney stack around 4 years ago as there was some water coming inside the loft on the face of the bricks. This issue was solved then I had a log burner installed a couple of years ago.
Since then ive had water entering the stack and appears to be travelling down the flue and causing pooling on the burner and damp around the fireplace. Its a solid stone wall.
I reflaunched the stack as the fitter had hacked a hole for the pot rather than reflaunch the whole thing!
Ive had the cowl changed to an anti draught but the damp issue is worse than ever.
The flashing and mortar joints all look good with no cracks anywhere. The only thing I can think of is, has anything become porous and soaking in? I used waterproofer in the flaunch mix but am worried some of the slated used under the pot are sloping in to the chimney. Although I wouldnt think this mattered as surely the cement wouldnt allow water to soak through?
I know its a generic issue but any ideas of what ive missed or what I can look at?
Thanks J
