Hello
My loft was boarded in the 1990s with tongue and groove 18mm chipboard. It’s actually a dormer bungalow so the “loft” is narrow and actually not boarded but the eaves are 2m wide and approx 20m long at a guesstimate. It’s a useful storage space but beneath is inaccessible as it’s the downstairs ceilings and there is only 100mm of yellow itchy insulation. That space is vented to eaves soffits.
It’s not even that well laid. The chipboard is of course t&g and nailed down. It’s very difficult to remove.
What are my options please beyond biting the bullet and getting an 18mm circular saw and taking it all up and raising it with loft stilts?
I’d like to put 270mm insulation in.
At the moment I’ve got an extra 300mm sat on top of much of the chipboard but I’m told that’s not optimal for condensation etc.
Thanks
