Loft Insulation - Lay new insulation over old?

Hi All,

We have very old (and crumbly) insulation in our loft. Is it OK to just put the new insulation on top of this or should we completely remove the old insulation first?

you can flop new over old.

Or if neater you can lay thick new, and use the old stuff somewhere else.
