Mains water pipe blockage

Hi All

This is a bit of a general question, but what options are there to try and find out what is blocking a mains water pipe to the house.

We had our mains water pipe broken by builders and then repaired but ever since the water pressure has been very low. I suspect that some dirt has been caught in the pipe, anyone know what methods there are to check these things.
Something like a plumbers snake to try and unblock the pipe? Havent a clue so any ideas would be welcome.
