The macfit is supposed to be a superior connector with a better, more forgiving, seal given its internals and construction. The standard connector is just a single flat rubber seal that's great when it's new but won't stand up to extreme or weird and wonderful angles or movement that pan connectors can easily find themselves in, over the longer term.
